An innovative eco-friendly option for homeowners is the Solar Power Home. Solar power is not as wasteful to our environment as one may think Many homes are converting to this easy to use system.

Although start up can be expensive, it pays its way in energy savings in the long run. Remember sunlight is free. Also there are many government rebates and incentives to switch to solar.

Thinking of changing to solar, one must first consider their own wattage use. To correctly calculate which type of system is best, a person needs to retrain their thinking.

Electricity is not to be wasted. With solar, a person is going to want to use those watts efficiently. Determining how to cut usage is difficult and will take patience.

A person needs to retrain their thinking and be more conscious about the electricity they are using in each room of the house.

One quick tip is to buy energy efficient rated appliances. As things break and need replaced, opt for ones that will run less watts of electricity.

Consumer reports and reviews can help in finding information about the products. Remember to turn off lights when not in the room using them.

Washing the clothes in cold water instead of hot is a quick and easy energy and money saver. Do not run small loads which are inefficient. Try using the cool setting on the dryer instead of hot.

Some money saving tips are to try using a laptop instead of a desktop model computer.

Laptops use less energy. Remember to turn off the desktop when not in use. Buying a programmable thermostat is a good idea.

This type of thermostat will automatically lower or turn up the temperature at preset times when residents are home or not at home.

There are two different solar systems out there for the homeowner to research.

The two systems are the Grid Tied system and the Off Grid System. Both systems are effective and each has its share of pros and cons.

Research is the way to determine which system is right for your household.

One system is called the Grid Tied system. This system means basically that the house is still tied to the utility grid.

The system is capturing solar energy for the houses needs. Once the house system is filled, the system will take the excess energy and place it into the main energy grid.

When this occurs, the utility company will give the owner a credit on their monthly invoice. Also if the house requires more electricity, it can draw additional power from the grid.

It is a win-win situation for the utility supplier and the homeowner.

An Off Grid system are for people that are living in remote areas and do not have access to the main power grid.

It can be too expensive to run miles of lines to the household. This system is completely independent of energy supplied by the utility companies.

This option basically needs a sunny location to get optimum solar for the residence.

Homeowners are researching more about becoming free and independent from the utility companies.

Prices of electricity keep rising without regulation. It appears the energy companies charge and raise their prices without regard to the consumer.

Solar may be a good option to help reduce and reuse energy for the homeowner.
